The Downend Noise!

Over 70 volunteers of all ages came together on the Saturday and Sunday of the May Bank Holiday weekend and had a wonderful time showing God’s love in practical ways by doing the 'Downend Noise'.

As Christ Church is currently meeting in Christ Church Junior School on Sunday mornings whilst the Church is being redeveloped, we felt that the Downend Noise would be a great opportunity to bless the school community.

Teams of volunteers got stuck in, painting the school gates and railings, painting classrooms, varnishing benches, litter picking, revamping the gardens, demolishing very tired furniture, and two volunteers, who run Mark's Gutter Cleaning, gave up their time to clear the school guttering.

On returning to school after the Bank Holiday weekend, Headteacher, Pippa Osbourne said, “We are all delighted by the results - what a difference. The children had been quick to notice all of the improvements to their learning environment, so thank you so much to the fab team!"

The Downend Noise didn’t just focus on the school. There was a free Cream Tea and Royal Quiz held in the Parish Hall for residents of Britannia Court and Grace Court, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Also, the young people took to the streets of Downend armed with litter busting equipment.
