You don't have to leave your house to come to youth! (2)

Hello everyone! The youth team are really missing you and hope that you and your families have been keeping well and safe during the lockdown. This blog entry is just to keep you updated on what youth activities are available for you to join in with online. Youth Ministry via Zoom has proved interesting, challenging and effective.

We have loved catching up with so many of you at the Elev8 groups on Wednesdays. Elev8 groups are a safe place to catch up with your friends, have some fun and go a little deeper in your understanding of Jesus. We are currently doing the Bible Course. This is an 8-week course and is a great way to study the Bible in-depth together and to encourage daily Bible readings. The games have been great fun too, from Bingo to Rock, Paper, Scissors. From Heads & Tails to quizzes and Kahoot. If you are interested in joining this group, please use the contact page on the website to email Diane. They run on Wednesdays 6.30pm for Years 6, 7 & 8. and Wednesdays 8pm for Years 9 and above.

Sunday morning youth groups (Sundays 11am) since going online have been very different, but also still really special. They provide a great opportunity to explore our Christian faith as we have looked at the daily Bible reading together. Recently Rich showed us his moving video of his experience with street children in Guatemala. We have also focussed on our church value of ‘thankfulness’, as we created ‘Thank You’ rainbow signs specifically for our postal workers and refuse collectors, ready to be stuck to our doors and bins. If you are interested in joining this group, please use the contact page on the website to email Diane.

For those of you who are missing going to the Thursday Ignite youth groups, we are excited to soon be in-touch; emailing you with a fun challenge and a video message from Jonners, Sam & Ellis. This message will go out to all of our young people who have attended any of our youth groups, including youth drop-ins. We hope you have been enjoying the weekly ‘Flashback Thursdays’ on Instagram (just look for Christ Church, Downend to receive).

The youth groups are also continuing in mission, showing God’s love in practical ways, by partnering with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and receiving food from our young people to add to the CAP Food Bank. If you have a donation, please contact Diane or Gary.

The youth leaders are also meeting up on Thursdays via Zoom to study the amazing Bible Course together.

Anyway, that is just a brief catch-up. The youth team are really looking forward to seeing you all again when the lockdown is lifted.

Love and prayers,

The Youth Team x
