Better to Give ....

Whilst most of us were busy opening our Advent calendars and probably consuming the contents! The young people of the 8 youth groups at Christ Church, Downend were busy with a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’. The idea of the reverse Advent was to donate tinned food items each time the calendar window was opened and for everything donated to go to CAP (Christians Against Poverty). This could then be used to bless some local families who may be struggling at this time of the year.

The response was amazing, youth leader Diane Paddon said, “we were overwhelmed by the way the young people embraced the idea as each day in Advent brought fresh donations of not only tins, but all sorts of other food items; we are very thankful”.

You can read about the amazing story of CAP on their website: https://capuk.org/about-us/the-cap-story. CAP are passionate about releasing people from a life sentence of poverty, debt, unemployment and addiction. Working with the Church they bring good news, hope and freedom to people struggling with debt in the UK.
